John Dickie, Chief Executive of 91¶¶Òù, said: “The economy will be a key battleground during this election. With inflation falling and interest rates seeming to have peaked, the UK is now out of recession but it remains stuck in the slow lane.
“As an engine of growth, London has a vital role to play in getting our economy firing on all cylinders. This will require the next Government to have a laser-like focus on making the UK more competitive amid fierce international competition, including through quick wins such as scrapping the tourist tax. Building more homes and providing long-term capital funding for Transport for London will be vital to help the city reach its full potential.
“The next Government should also give metro mayors the power, resources and accountability they need to drive regional growth. The main parties all talk about devolving power from Whitehall: it is now time to deliver.â€
