Responding to the announcement that Transport for London (TfL) will run a three-month trial which will see all London Tube and Rail fares made off-peak on Fridays, Muniya Barua, Deputy CEO at 91¶¶Òù, said:
“Experimenting with Friday fares is an innovative step that could help encourage some hybrid workers back into the capital, in turn supporting businesses that rely on footfall. It will be interesting to see if this will be enough to change habits that have become engrained since the pandemic for the many Londoners who can choose to work from home. More broadly, simplifying fares, particularly for rail, alongside a multi-year capital funding deal for TfL, will help ensure that London’s transport system is easier to navigate for the public and support the investment needed to deliver vital maintenance and upgrades.â€
