Now entries have closed our judges are independently reviewing all submitted applications and scoring each entry against the specific category criteria. Individual scores will then be compiled, an average score for each entry taken and from there the finalists for each category are determined.
Finalists will be announced in May 2025, and put forward to our second stage of judging.
We will contact all entrants via email in May to confirm whether your entry has been successful.
The second stage of judging will involve either a site visit or a presentation depending on the category. In order to ensure each entry is judged fairly and with as much information as possible available we will arrange these with you so that judges can hear more from you in person.
We will be in touch with all finalists in late May to arrange the date of your presentation or site visit.
During the second stage of the judging process, the judges will rescore each of the finalists against a new set of category-specific criteria that takes into account the judges’ ability to put clarifying questions to the entrant and assess the entrants’ responses. The winner for each category must be decided by unanimous vote.
Site visits
Site visits are an important part of our judging process and an element of the Building London Planning Awards that sets this accolade apart from any other. Our panel of judges will visit all finalists from the listed categories in person. This massive logistical undertaking is pivotal to the prestige and integrity of the awards and gives finalists the unique opportunity to bring their projects to life, allowing the judges to experience the entry first hand and score what is directly in front of them.
Presentations
For the listed categories, a site visit is not necessary but having more in-depth detail regarding the entry and giving the judges the opportunity to ask questions directly of the finalists is a very important step, so we ask that finalists of these categories come to our offices to give an in-person presentation.
We expect no more than 10 minute presentation, followed by 10 minutes of judges’ questions.
Judges’ discussion
The two final categories will not require a site visit or presentation, but will be decided by judges’ deliberation only.
General entry and judging T&Cs
